David Wolitz

David Wolitz is a professor of law at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law.
Professor Wolitz’s scholarship focuses on the intersection of criminal justice and legal theory. He has particular expertise in post-conviction review procedures and the history and theory of the Model Penal Code.
Before turning to academia, Professor Wolitz practiced civil litigation and criminal defense in private practice and subsequently worked as an attorney-adviser at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Immediately prior to joining the law faculty at UDC in 2020, he was an associate professor of law at the University of Tennessee College of Law where he taught Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Federal Courts and Jurisprudence. He has also taught Criminal Procedure, Legal Justice and Legal Research & Writing at Georgetown University Law Center.
Professor Wolitz studied Japanese constitutional law at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Studies in Yokohama and looks forward to returning to Japan for more academic collaboration.
