| Office of the Registrar In this session, the Assistant Registrar, Cassandra Bland (she, her, hers), will issue mandatory first-year forms for students to complete and provide an overview of services offered by the Office of the Law Registrar. Location: UDC Law, Rooms 515/516

| Managing Your Finances In this session, the Director of Financial Aid, Dalmarie Lawrence (she, her, hers), will discuss the financial aid process and answer any questions that you may have. In addition, the National Director of Financial Education for AccessLex Institute’s Center for Education and Financial Capability, Derek Brainard (he, him, his), will present on “Financial Planning for Law Students.” From developing a simple spending plan to outlining your three-year financial plan, smart money strategies lay the foundation for every law student’s personal and professional success story. Learn to apply core concepts of personal finance to make confident decisions about money and better achieve your short and long-term goals. Location: UDC Law, Rooms 515/516 |

| Counseling and Wellness, Health Services, Food Security, and Disability Services In this session, Clinical Services Coordinator and Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Francesca Alesi (she, her, hers), will provide an overview of UDC’s Counseling and Wellness Center and the services it offers. The D.C. Bar Lawyer Assistance Program Senior Counselor, Jessie Joachim (she, her, hers), will discuss free and strictly confidential mental health and well-being services available to law students in D.C. Student Health Coordinator, Monica Gaskin (she, her, hers), will explain UDC’s Health Services and requirements. The Director of Student Outreach & Leadership Development, Doni Russel (she, her, hers), will talk about the UDC Fresh Produce Pantry and additional food and nutrition resources available to UDC Law students. Lastly, the Associate Dean of Students, Erica Smith (she, her, hers) and Rehabilitation Counselor for the Accessibility Resource Center, Pamela Butler (she, her, hers), will provide a brief overview of UDC’s commitment to providing equal and integrated access for individuals with disabilities to all the academic, social, cultural, and recreational programs it offers. Services, Rich Evans (he, him, his), will go over the Law Library hours, study room locations, database access, and the schedule for library tours and equipment pickup. In addition, Network Administrator, Lewis Perry (he, him, his), and Technology Support Specialist, Joseph Marceda (he, him, his), will go over how to access email, Blackboard, myUDC, and Exam4. | Class of 2025 and Class of 2026 Photo Don’t forget to wear your UDC Law T-shirt today as we will be taking an incoming Class of 2025 and Class of 2026 photo. Masks will be required for all indoor photos. Masks are optional for any outdoor photos. Location: Weather permitting, meet in front of the Law School for an outside shoot at Dennard Plaza.

During this panel discussion, you will hear advice from UDC Law alumni Darby Hickey ‘22 and Jamal Bailey ‘22, and UDC Law students Sonya Williams ‘23, Victor Goldrush ‘24, and Ariel Brickman ‘25. | Understanding Lawyers’ Ethics Panel In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. It is important that incoming students determine the applicable character, fitness, and other requirements for admission to the bar in each jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission to the bar. During this panel discussion, Darin Sobin ’92 (he, him, his), Chief Programs Officer for the D.C. Bar, and Ashley Cooks ‘14 (she, her, hers), Director of Government Ethics at the Board of Ethics and Government Accountability, will discuss character, fitness, and other issues for the D.C. Bar. This panel will be moderated by Katherine “Shelley” Broderick (she, her, hers), Dean Emerita and Joseph L. Rauh, Jr. Chair of Social Justice. Location: UDC Law, Rooms 515/516

This will help you when you take your Orientation Quiz via Blackboard. The Quiz will be comprised of these reflection questions. The Quiz will be available on Thursday, August 11, 2022, via Blackboard and can be completed any time prior to its due date (Sunday, August 14, 2022, by 11:59 pm).
