Professor Morin is founder and director of the Gender Justice Project, which brings together students, professors, and activists to find multi-disciplinary solutions to local and global problems at the intersection of gender, sexual orientation, race, and economic status. In collaboration with the Legislation Clinic, the Gender Justice Project works with nonprofit organizations and community groups to combat gender inequities using a wide array of strategies, including public policy development, legislative drafting, lobbying, community organizing and non-violent protest, public education, media outreach, and impact litigation. The Project also sponsors courses, conferences, roundtables, and other events to facilitate dialogue and action on these issues.
Professor Morin joined the faculty in 1996 and has served many roles since that time. She was the School of Law’s first Director of Academic Success, and has taught courses in Legal Writing, Professional Responsibility, and Gender, Sexuality & the Law. She served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 2012 until 2016. Prior to taking on the role of Associate Dean, Professor Morin was a supervising attorney in the Community Development Law Clinic (CDLC), which represents low-income entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, tenants’ associations and community-based organizations in a variety of transactional law matters.
Professor Morin is also co-founder (with Professors Susan Waysdorf and William McLain) of the Service-Learning program, in which faculty members and students travel together to parts of the country that need legal assistance to recover from natural and man-made disasters. She has accompanied students on service learning trips to New Orleans to provide services to survivors of Hurricane Katrina, Mississippi to provide legal services in the wake of the BP oil spill, and Texas to assist women and children refugees from Central America who were detained at the Karnes Detention Center.
Professor Morin is committed to the education, entrepreneurship and empowerment of women globally. She is a volunteer mentor for Empowered Women International, a nonprofit organization that trains immigrant and low-income women to start their own businesses, and a member of the leadership team of the Enterprising Women Mentoring Forum for high school girls.
