Fall 2022 Registration Instructions for First Year Students

Welcome to Fall 2022 Registration for the Classes of 2025 (FT/Day) and 2026 (PT/Evening) at the David A. Clarke School of Law.

1.  General Instructions

Members of the Classes of 2025 (FT/Day) and 2026 (PT/Evening) may register themselves online beginning July 13, 2022. First year registration should be completed by July 22, 2022. Students who are not officially registered will be unable to access course materials and digital textbooks. Please carefully read and follow all instructions below.

First-year courses are required and prescribed. Prior to registration, all first-year students will receive their course assignment list by email from the Office of the Law Registrar. Please use that list and the instructions below to self-enroll in your prescribed course sections for Fall 2022.

Please note: first year students are not permitted to “cross enroll” between day and evening courses. Do not enroll in any course not listed in your email. Prior to Orientation, the Registrar may correct your registration or move you to a different section of a multi-section course. During Orientation, you must sign into myUDC’s Student Banner Self Service to verify your final course schedule and section assignments.

Use your UDC email account and read your emails! Once you are registered, the School of Law’s administrative offices, including the Registrar and Office of Financial Aid, will send all communications to your UDC email account. Please include your Student ID Number (N#) in all communications with School of Law offices.

Students should refer to the 2022-2023 Academic Calendar (pdf) for important dates and to the Fall 2022 Book List for required textbooks and information about Follett All Access. Students can consult the UDC Law Student Handbook, Vol. 1 for rules about scheduling and graduation requirements.

2. Holds to Clear Before Registration

All new students should use the university’s Student Health Portal to upload COVID-19 vaccination documentation (a PDF copy of proof of vaccination or an exemption form) immediately. Failure to submit COVID-19 documentation will prevent you from registering for courses and being allowed on campus. Once uploaded, UDC’s University Health Services will either lift the registration hold or, if necessary, request additional information, within 24-48 hours. Any questions about this requirement should be directed to University Health Services.

  • First time users of the Student Health Portal must register for an account. When registering for the Student Health Portal, your Username is your Student ID number (N#). Date of birth format is XX/XX/XXXX. If your UDC email account is not yet active, you may use the personal email address used on your admission application. Check your email account for an email from ‘Pyramed’ to create your password for the portal.

In addition, all new UDC students who are age 26 or younger are required to submit standard immunization records (this requirement has existed for many years and is NOT related to COVID). If you fall into this age category and do not submit the required records, you may be prevented from registering or your course selections may be canceled by the University. If you are age 26 or younger, please submit the required immunization records to University Health Services via the Student Health Portal as soon as possible.

If you have a Financial Aid hold on your account and you completed the required webinar and counseling session, please email lawfinaid@udc.edu to have the hold removed.

3. Online Registration Instructions

Law students use the University’s records management system myUDC (my.udc.edu) to register online and manage their student accounts.

  • Log into myUDC using your UDC username and password.
    • Your username and password are e-mailed to your personal e-mail address used when applying; this typically happens within 24 to 48 working hours after acceptance. If you are unsure of your login name, or are otherwise unable to log into myUDC, you will need to contact the UDC Help Hub.
  • In myUDC, click Student Banner Self Service.
  • Under Student, select Registration then Register for Classes.
  • For Term, select Fall 2022 then click the Continue button.
  • In the Subject box, type Law then select Law.
    • DO NOT select Business Law (doing so may cause undergraduate business courses that are not part of the JD degree program to appear in your registration options).
    • You may also use course numbers to search individually for the courses listed in the email. All law school course numbers, and only law school course numbers, begin with ‘L’ (e.g., L101, L105).
  • At the bottom of the screen, click the Search button.
  • Next to each course section for which you want to register (see below), click the Add button.
  • The registration status of each course will show ‘Pending’ until you hit the Submit button at the bottom of the screen. Doing so will change the registration status to ‘Registered.’
  • Because all first year courses are required and prescribed, UDC Law’s Registrar may correct your registration or move you to a different section of a course before the start of classes. You must visit Student Banner Self Service during Orientation to verify your final course schedule and section assignments.

If, due to extenuating circumstances, you are unable to complete Online Registration, complete and submit the On-Site & Late Registration Form (pdf) to the UDC Law Registrar’s Office (lawregistrar@udc.edu).

You must complete all steps of the registration process, including payment of your bill and/or disbursement of your financial aid, by Monday, August 15, 2022, or your course selections may be canceled by the University. If your course selections are canceled and you wish to re-enroll, you must contact the Registrar’s Office. You will be required to complete the On-Site & Late Registration Form (pdf) and pay the late registration fee ($150). All registration for the Fall 2022 semester ends at 5:00 p.m. on August 26, 2022.

All students are required to have health insurance coverage and will be charged the annual premium for the University-sponsored health insurance plan unless the coverage is waived by the University’s deadline. Additional information and instructions for waiving University-sponsored coverage can be found on the First Student site for UDC. Please note that students must be enrolled in courses for 48 hours before the system will accept a waiver request. A waiver, if applicable, must be requested at the beginning of each academic year.
