Landrum Beard is a seasoned advancement professional with over 18 years of leadership experience in fund development, donor stewardship, and community engagement. As Director of Advancement at the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law, he leads fundraising strategy, donor relations, and institutional partnerships to support the law school’s mission of providing accessible, public interest legal education.
Prior to this role, Mr. Beard served as Director of Advancement at Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP), where he led donor growth, retention, and fund development strategies to advance EPIP’s mission of empowering emerging leaders and fostering equity in philanthropy. His previous roles also include Director of Philanthropy at the Greater Washington Urban League and Executive Director of the Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative (CGLI), a fund of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. In these positions, he championed initiatives to improve life outcomes for Black and marginalized populations while increasing philanthropy within communities of color.
Mr. Beard’s career spans the nonprofit, higher education, and foundation sectors, where he has been recognized for his ability to engage cross-cultural populations and develop programs that strengthen social capital in underserved communities. He is a Leadership Buffalo graduate, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and an advocate for equity, equality, and generational wealth building in the Black community. He is also a Buffalo Bills supporter (Go Bills!)
Landrum’s accolades include the Buffalo Black Achiever Award, the National Federation for Just Communities (NFJC) WNY Community Philanthropy Award, and selection as a Connecting Fellow Leadership Program (CFLP) through the Association of Black Foundation Executives (ABFE), 2025 Institute for Nonprofit Practice Fellow, Spot On Awardee at DC Gathering Spot recognizing his exemplary leadership and impact on the philanthropic sector.
Mr. Beard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University at Buffalo (SUNY). Outside of his professional work, he enjoys volunteering, traveling, and spending quality time with family.
