
Pinning Ceremony
On Friday, January 10, 2025, UDC Law celebrated the incoming Class of 2027 and 2028 at the annual Pinning Ceremony. The annual ceremony welcomes family, friends, and alumni to support 1L students as they begin or continue to embark on their law school journey. During the ceremony, students took an oath to commit themselves to the legal profession. The oath was led by the Honorable John Lui ’16. Students also received a warm welcome from Dean Angela Gilmore and Tonee Earle ’21.
Bar Exam Bound Alumni Sendoff
On Thursday, February 20, 2025, UDC Law hosted students and alumni on campus for the first Bar Exam Bound: Alumni Sendoff. Faculty, staff, and alumni gathered together to cheer on and give words of wisdom to February bar takers.
Black Women Leading In Law
On Thursday, March 20, 2025, UDC Law hosted its third annual Black Women Leading in Law in Heritage Hall. The event pays homage to the trailblazing legacy of Jean Camper Cahn, UDC Law’s co-founder and the first Black woman to co-establish a law school. The evening included a student speaker, Wendashia Jones, greetings from Dean Gilmore, and an engaging dialogue with the event’s keynote speaker, LaRuby May ’06, co-founder of May Jung Law and a previous member of the Council of the District of Columbia, and Professor Shakisha Morgan.
UDC Law Review Symposium
On Friday, March 21, 2025, the UDC Law Review hosted its annual Law Review Symposium in the Moot Court Room. This year’s theme was A Different World: The Evolution of the Legal Profession. The event celebrated the 20th anniversary of the D.C. Court of Appeals’ creation of the D.C. Access to Justice Commission. The event also included keynote speakers Chief Judge E. Gregory Wells of the Appellate Court of Maryland and Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
UDC Law Hooding Ceremony
On Friday, May 9, 2025, UDC Law hosted the annual Hooding Ceremony in the Theatre of the Arts. The ceremony marked the conclusion of the Class of 2025’s law school journey. Dr. Jeffery Fleming, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, provided the Invocation and Benediction. Maya Wiley, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, provided the address for the Hooding Ceremony.
