Bruce Ching earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, a master’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan, and his JD from the University of Michigan Law School. A member of the State Bar of Michigan, he was a prehearing attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals and clerked for a trial court judge in Detroit, and he later worked as a staff attorney for the national office of the United Auto Workers Legal Services Plans.
Professor Ching has taught legal writing at several law schools. At the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, he directs the Legal Writing program and has also taught Evidence. He has served as chair for diversity committees of two national legal writing organizations—the Legal Writing Institute and the Association of Legal Writing Directors—as well as being an active member of other committees in those organizations. His scholarship is eclectic, with his most recent works examining the intersection of law, rhetoric, and politics.
