Applying for Financial Aid

Students must apply annually for financial assistance. Instructions for individuals applying for admission or just admitted to the School of Law (entering students) appear below. Continuing students will receive financial aid instructions and deadlines via their UDC e-mail accounts.

Required for Entering Students

  1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    2. Complete the FAFSA on-line at https://studentaid.gov/. Be sure to use UDC Law’s FAFSA code — B08083. As long as our code is listed on your application it will be transmitted to the School of Law electronically.
  2. UDC Law Financial Aid Forms
    • All students must complete the UDC Law Financial Aid Application annually.
    • All students must complete the UDC Law Title IV Authorization Release for Non-Institutional Charges Form.
These forms can be found on the Financial Aid Forms page. Submit the forms to the Office of Financial Aid by mail, e-mail, fax or in person. Deadline for priority consideration: March 15th for new admits. (Late admits: within 2 weeks of acceptance or seat deposit.) The Office of Financial Aid will notify you via e-mail once your financial aid package has been computed.

Applying for Need-Based Institutional Scholarships

In addition to the above items, applicants for need based scholarships must complete the Need Based Scholarship Application available on the Financial Aid Forms page. The Need Based Scholarship Application is required ONLY if you are applying for a need-based scholarship. Deadline for priority consideration: June 28th for new admits. (Late admits: within 2 weeks of acceptance or seat deposit.)

Applying for Merit Scholarships

No application is required for Incoming Merit or other institutional scholarships; awards are based on the information in the application for admission.

Applying for Work-Study

Work-study awards generally are not included in students’ initial Financial Aid award notifications. Instead, students who wish to participate in the federal work study program will need to notify the Office of Financial Aid. Once they have completed the proper paperwork to be entered on the payroll, students approved for work-study may begin working October 1. First-year students are limited to participation in the on-campus Institutional Work-Study (IWS) program. Work-study students submit bi-weekly timesheets and are paid bi-weekly. Work-study award amounts vary depending on a student’s net financial need and available funding.
