The family of Barbara Tommey, including Pearl Mansu ’22, has established the Barbara Tommey Hope of Glory Scholarship. Tommey, Mansu’s cousin, died Sept. 8, 2020, at the hands of an abusive partner. The scholarship will honor Tommey’s legacy by providing financial assistance to a student who is working toward a career in family law or has been impacted by domestic violence.

Mansu said, “Barbara expressed that she wanted to be a lawyer like her father. So offering this scholarship at a law school is meaningful in that it empowers others to accomplish what she did not live to accomplish herself. I can’t think of a better law school to introduce this scholarship than UDC Law.”

The $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to one or two students per year. Students will submit an essay to be considered for the scholarship.
